This volume contains the papers presentend at a provincial symposium held in October 1988 at the Université de Moncton under the sponsorship of the Canadian Institute for Research on Regional Development. The growing complexity of New Brunswick compels us to look to new challenges. New Brunswick faces particular problems. It is a bicultural province with complex economic development issues. As we look to the 21st century, however, it is important to not only focus on our difficulties but also point the way to solutions.

About the Author:
Donald Savoie holds the Canada Research Chair in Public Administration and Governance (Tier 1) at the Université de Moncton. He has won numerous awards, including the 2016 Donner Prize for What Is Government Good At? He has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada (1993), elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (1992), and received seven honorary doctorates from Canadian universities.
