MONCTON, November 2, 2026 — The Donald J. Savoie Institute warmly congratulates Professor Donald J. Savoie, who has been awarded the 2026 New Brunswick Scholarly Book Award for his book titled Louis J. Robichaud: A Man for the Moment. (McGill Queen’s University Press, 2026).

Awarded by the editorial board of the Journal of New Brunswick Studies / Revue d’études sur le Nouveau-Brunswick, the New Brunswick Scholarly Book Award recognizes exceptional scholarship in the humanities and social sciences that advances our knowledge and understanding of the province of New Brunswick.

Members of the award’s selection committee note that this “intimate and comprehensive” biography of Premier Louis J. Robichaud is a “wonderful addition” to the literature on the man who led New Brunswick from 1960 to 1970. In their view, the book “will appeal to the general public, particularly those who lived through that period, and will also be highly valued by scholars for its many insights for many years to come.”

“This award attests to the relevance and quality of Professor Savoie’s work dedicated to the man who, as premier, spearheaded the modernization of New Brunswick in the 1960s,” said Jacques Paul Couturier, the Institute’s president and CEO. “Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Savoie!”
