This book discusses regional development issues within the context of an information economy and examines some structural characteristics of Canadian manufacturing industries and assesses how the peripheral regions are likely to react to the introduction of information technologies in this sector. The author discusses also the need to include urban strategies in the development of regional policy. In conclusion, this study argues that the information economy offers a number of interesting opportunities to revitalize development policy in Canada.
